Acupuncture for Breech Babies

Acupuncture Treatment for Breech Babies is ideally given between 32 - 35 weeks
and has been shown to be as much as 80% effective

Treatment requires a one-off consultation to check your general health and to find out more about how this pregnancy and any previous pregnancies have been. We will then give you some acupuncture to help the process. During your appointment I will show you how to continue treatment at home with moxa sticks - rolls of mugwort that have been shaped into cigar like sticks. At home the moxa stick is lit and held about an inch above specific points (Bladder 67) on both your little toes. This is done two to three times a day for up to 10 days.

In some cases using moxa to try and turn a baby is not advised. If in doubt this can be discussed with us and your midwife.

These include:

Twin pregnancies
Previous caesarian for breech presentation
Raised blood pressure
Bleeding during pregnancy
Rhesus negative blood type

Rick is a traditional Chinese acupuncturist with over 25 years clinical experience & is a member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC).

He is a lecturer at The International College of Oriental Medicine (ICOM), the UK's oldest acupuncture college, teaching acupuncture for Gynaecology and Obstetrics.

Rick has been using acupuncture for fertility, miscarriage prevention and during pregnancy since 2004 and has worked within and alongside The Agora Gynaecology and Fertility Clinic, in Hove, since 2010.
