Fertility Acupuncture at The Agora
We have specialised in acupuncture for fertility treatment
since 2004, and have worked alongside
The Agora Gynaecology and Fertility Centre since 2010
If you are having fertility treatment at The Agora and you'd like to increase your chances of a positive outcome, you can be assured that you will be in good hands.
It is our opinion that acupuncture must not be another thing making large demands on you through this process, so we tailor treatment to your individual needs. We start by finding out what it is that you need physically, mentally and emotionally and discuss a suitable approach with you.
Over years of working alongside The Agora Consultants and Nurses, we have developed high quality, supportive, acupuncture and fertility treatment.
Research shows that having acupuncture and fertility treatment increases the likelihood of a clinical pregnancy by as much as 60% and patients tell us they find the process easier and feel more relaxed when they have acupuncture alongside their fertility treatment.
Acupuncture and fertility
Based on research and experience, we recommend acupuncture alongside all IVF, ICSI, IUI and ovulation induction treatments.

Where do the needles go?
We generally use mostly 'distal' points with some 'local' ones.
'Distal' points are on your arms and legs, generally below your elbow and knees. 'Local' points, to promote fertility, are mostly on your front and back around your abdomen, often just above or below your belly button.
I will always discuss what points I am going to use first and make sure that you feel comfortable with these.
How much treatment do I need?
At the initial consultation we go through your medical history and any notes or test results that you have, and combine these with a Chinese Medicine diagnosis to develop an individual treatment plan to suit you.
Treatment is generally advised every week to two weeks for as long as is necessary. Weekly treatment is often ideal, as this allows me to work with each phase of your menstrual cycle in turn.
